Hello and Welcome
I’m Kelsie — a therapist, a woman, a wife, a daughter, a sister, and a friend. Like you, I’m also healing, learning, growing, and changing.
This blog is a space where I’ll share my internal dialogue — the thoughts I have during and after therapy sessions, the ideas that spark deep healing, and yes, the intrusive thoughts that keep me up at night wondering how to live this life with more awareness and grace.
The Story Behind the Blog
So who am I, really?
I’m in my mid-30s and, like many women raised in the ’90s, I grew up watching Sex and the City. I adored Carrie Bradshaw — sitting in her New York apartment, typing away with a cigarette in hand, a cocktail nearby, and endless coffee cups scattered around. She had style, wit, and an ability to make the messy parts of life feel relatable and even beautiful.
Carrie inspired me to tell stories about real life — the good, the hard, and everything in between. That passion led me to study Journalism at 19, and I spent several years writing for a local newspaper before burning out from the politics of it all.
From Journalism to Therapy
Journalism ended so I found myself in new territory with banking of all things. I became a financial educator and taught inmates at the local jail how to rebuild their credit and budget their money. I worked as a teller and a loan officer until the pandemic when I moved out of Wisconsin for the first time in 30 years! That new life change led me to begin a career in nutrition where I coached over 60 people on their weight loss and muscle gain journeys. I also opened two nutrition shops and made healthy to go meals for the community. I share all of this because I bring a whole-body approach to my therapy sessions with conversations about sleep, exercise, nutrition and financial stability as a part of the package.
Life as a Therapist
Now, lets fast forward to today: I’ve fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a mental health therapist in December 2024 when I graduated with my Masters in Clinical Mental Health and earned my pre-license with the State of Montana.
That experience began in 2023 when I started working with individuals and couples from all walks of life — navigating affairs, addictions, trauma, grief, dating, and everything in between. Most of my clients were/are single adults between 23 and 50, though every person brings a story as unique as their fingerprint.
What I’ve learned, both as a journalist and as a therapist, is that people are deeply fascinating. We all carry experiences that shape us — pain that can be transformed into meaning, and stories that, when shared, can help someone else heal.
This blog is where I’ll weave together those stories — my own and the themes that arise in my work — in hopes that you’ll find something that resonates. My hope is that you’ll know you’re not alone, that your story matters, and that healing is possible even in this strange, beautiful, complicated world.
What You Can Expect Here
In the posts to come, I’ll be exploring topics like:
Attachment styles and how to reparent our inner child
Avoidance and communication — why so many of us struggle to express our needs
Realistic love and romance — moving past fantasy toward secure, honest connection
Relationships, marriage, friendship, sex, and pleasure
Grief, loss, and parenting in today’s world
I believe love and healing are built through consistent, direct communication — not grand gestures or fairytales. It’s the daily choice to show up, speak up, and connect honestly.
A Note on Perspective
For transparency, most of my clients identify as cisgender and heterosexual, and I write from that lens as a cisgender, heterosexual woman married to a cisgender man.
That said, this space — and my therapy practice — is safe and welcoming to all people, regardless of gender, sexuality, or background.
I’m a sex-positive therapist, which means I believe conversations about kinks, preferences, and intimacy are not only normal but vital to understanding ourselves and our relationships.
If these topics make you uncomfortable, you’re free to move along to another space that feels right for you — no hard feelings.
I do, however, welcome constructive feedback and shared experiences. If you’d like to connect, you can reach me at huntingforhopellc@gmail.com.
Thank You for Being Here
Here’s to learning, growing, and healing — together.
If something in this post resonated with you, I’d love to hear from you.
