Therapists Are Humans, Not Robots — Here’s a Bit About My Style

I think it’s important for clients to understand who their therapist is and get a feel for their personality. That connection can be the difference between change and healing—or stagnation. There are so many therapists in the world, and if one doesn’t fit, I encourage you to keep trying. Just like finding the right clothes, doctor, or mechanic, the right therapist is someone who understands you and makes you feel comfortable.

So to help you get a sense of who I am and what sessions with me look like, here’s a bit about my style.

My Style: Conversational and Collaborative

My approach is conversational. That means back-and-forth dialogue, not just me nodding and asking how something makes you feel. I bring curiosity and questions to guide the process—especially helpful if you’re nervous or unsure about opening up.

I use self-disclosure at times because I believe it helps clients feel less alone. So many people think they’re the only ones struggling, especially couples who look “fine” from the outside but are hurting behind closed doors. When I share something from my own experience, it’s not to talk about myself—it’s to help you feel seen and understood.

You’re also welcome to ask me questions. If you ever wonder, “How did you handle something like this?” I’m open to having that conversation. I may not always answer directly, but I’ll always help you explore why that question feels important to you.

My Approach: Direct and Supportive

I’m naturally straightforward and assertive—some might call it “tough love.” Think of me as the big sister who’s going to protect you fiercely but also be honest with you. I want to see you create discipline, accountability, and the life you truly want.

I tell my clients that I don’t want to work harder on their life than they do. I’ll cheer you on, hold your hand, and support you through the hard moments—but ultimately, change comes from within.

Safety and Growth

My style may be direct, but it’s always grounded in safety and compassion. I’ll never intentionally push you beyond your limits, but I will challenge you to grow. Therapy can feel like stretching new muscles—it might be uncomfortable at times, but the strength and relief that follow are worth it.

You are always in control of your process. This is your time, your life, and your investment. I’m here to walk beside you every step of the way.

I offer free consultation calls because I want you to see me, hear my voice and get my vibe up front. If we match, amazing lets get you scheduled and if I don't, than I am happy to offer referrals that fit your needs. Please reach out today via email if you are interested in starting therapy.
